When dressing up its important to get into character and one way which you can do this is by embracing the costume which you are wearing. Although this might seem a little obvious, the more you play the part of the costume the more likely you are to have a good time and enjoy the day out in fancy dress. By accessorising your outfit you to can set yourself apart from the other party goers and go that extra mile with a wig (like this one) or some glasses and hats (like these).
Fancy Dress by Letter ‘S’
Common Costumes beginning with S can involve;
Sixties – possibly one of the most common themes for a fancy dress party beginning with an s hence you might not be the only person rocking the sixties look.
Spice Girls – One for couples or groups this; why not pick your favourite Spice Girl and bring back the 90s with a hit of Brit Pop and a high hem line.
Smurf & Smurfette – Another for coupes, why not both get some blue body paint and a white hat, some of the Smurf outfits and you are away… Be sure that you use body paint as some non-body paints can cause the skin to burn.
Snow Queen – Dress up in white, colour your hair in white snow spray and wear a fur coat – or you can get a full blown snow queen outfit with a wig. But essentially a Tiara might make a nice addition to your hair.
St Valentine – Tear off your shirt and get the cupid look out. You’ll need a bow and arrow to shoot your love in the heart and have them fall head over heels for you.
Spandau Ballet – The band extraordinaire; GOLD and many other 80s classics came out of this power ballet rocking stars. So grab the shoulder pads and get ready to rock the microphone.
Simply Red – Break out the ginger or red head wig and then grab yourself some kind of sad waist coat to look like the Simply Red singer Mick Hucknel – why you’d attend a party as this man, we don’t know.
Sean Paul – Break out the crazy braided hair and baggy jeans it’s time to go Caribbean Dance Hall styleee… check him out for yourself because this one hit wonder wont last the night.
Shop Keeper – Bit boring but indeed, break out your shirt and name tag, do your hair all slicked back and crack out the novelty glasses to look like a clerk or a shop keeper.
Superbad – The first of many teen comedy films, Superbad brought you some laughs about mums and two youths wearing hoodies who simply cant get no satisfaction. http://www.sonypictures.com/movies/superbad/
Spiderman – Spiderman is perhaps one of the best known superhero outfits beginning with an s, hence you’ll again not be the only one rocking this outfit, but it is easy to pull off and looks great.
Sphinx – The Egyptian cat known locally as the Sphinx is somewhat easy to pull off. Golden face paints and then some colourful eyes as well as a cat suit might make you look hot to trot.
Spider – Forget the man part, this is a plain spider, so you’ll need some fake legs making from newspaper and masking tape, then simply paint them black or brown and attach them in a novelty way around your head or waist.
Scorpion – Now a scorpion is a little bit more involved than your spider above, but again you’ll need to make some leg and this time a stinger. Attach the stinger to your back and then make some claws or buy some mittens and then you are good to go.
Spy – Break out the Mac and the Hat and get ready to wear some glasses, you could even carry a briefcase of “top secret” materials and have a number of gadgets to play with.
Snake Charmer – Break out your Arabic and Far eastern outfit and then maybe a wicker basket and a rubber snake would be a good touch. If you loose your snake then you’ll just be a charmer.
Scorpion King – Dress up as the Rock in one of his best roles to date. The Scorpion King goes shirtless and has a eastern medieval theme to his attire.
Stoner – Breaker out some smelly clothes and don’t wash your hair for a couple of days. Try on a hoody and make sure you hide your blood shot eyes as you are now 100% stoner. Or you could just take a stone with you to the party.
Starfish – Dressing up as a starfish might seem a bit epic, but really it’s a simple costume to make if you have access to some large cardboard boxes, Cutting them into triangle and then attaching them to your head, shoulders/ back and bum should see you take the shape of a starfish.
Sergeant – A rank in the military so crack out the military fancy dress and practice your drills as the sergeant is the one who calls the shots. Accessorise with a military hat, some aviators and some military replica weapons.
Sportsman – easy this one, simply break out your sports top and shorts and then whack on your trainers and boom you are a sports man. Theming your sport around sports beginning with S such as Snooker, Soccer, Squash and many more…
Spanish Dancer – Spanish dancers aka flamenco dancers, wearing a Spanish skirt and then a tight black top similar to this one. You can use flowers in your hair and also some castanets
Sorcerer – Or his apprentice might be a suitable magicians outfit. You can wear silk and have some kind of blazer on or long sleeves so that you can hide your tricks up them, you could also try a wand or a wizards hat and cape to really set off your outfit.
Sumo Wrestler – You can get sumo suits online, like this one, or you can make some of the pants yourself and then simply turn up in your pants. You might want to fix your hair into a tight bobble and have two chop sticks pushed through it to hold it in place and give you that authentic Japanese look.
