One of the most anticipated coming games of 2015 is Lego: Dimensions. Similar in style to Skylanders and Disney Infinity, consumers buy the starter kit, which includes the game itself and a portal. After buying the starter kit, players will be able to buy new characters and levels by purchasing different packs. The premise of the game centers around Lord Vortech, who has stolen characters from multiple worlds through a portal. Multiple characters from the different worlds jump into the vortex to save their friends and find themselves allies on the quest to save the Lego worlds. Since the release of the Official Trailer at San Diego Comic Con, featuring not only characters from the Lego Movie, but also Doctor Who, DC Comics, and many others, gamers have been itching to get their hands on the game.
The introduction of Doctor Who into the Lego Universe has only increased the popularity of Lego and the demand for this game. One is able to play as The Doctor, defeat cybermen and daleks, while teaming up with Batman, Legolas, and many others. Fans of Doctor Who can enjoy playing as all 12 Doctors. Game makers have said that each time The Doctor dies in-game, he will by replaced by one of the other Doctor characters, in chronological order. It has also been confirmed that the current companion, Clara Oswald, will also be a character in the game and that the Tardis will change with the Doctor. Not to mention, The Master, or Missy as she is now known, will also have a role to play in the new game.
Lego: Dimensions is set to release on 27 September 2015 and will be available on Xbox One, Xbox 360, Playstation 4, Playstation 3, and Wii U. At launch, players will be able to purchase characters and play levels featuring Scooby Doo, Lord of the Rings, Portal 2, Back to the Future, and many others. One can only assume that the characters currently available will increase with the popularity and sale of the game. Starting in November, new downloadable content will be available for the game including new characters and levels.
